Troops of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism after recovering an ISWAP propaganda camcorder and exposing the identities of several top terrorist commanders during an intelligence-led operation in the Lake Chad region of northern Borno State.
The operation, conducted against ISWAP/ISIS enclaves, also yielded valuable intelligence materials and technical devices believed to have been used by the terrorist group to coordinate its activities and produce propaganda content.
According to the military, forensic analysis of the recovered equipment generated actionable intelligence that enabled security forces to identify terrorist hideouts and key operational locations within the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis along the Lake Chad Basin in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas of Borno State.
In a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, the identified terrorist leaders include Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, the Wali (Governor) of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP); his deputy and Amirul Jaish, Muhammad Jidda, also known as "The One-Handed Man"; and Hamad Abu Hanifa, the group's Amirul-Fiya, among other senior operatives.
The military described Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa as the most wanted ISWAP commander currently operating within the Lake Chad Basin, urging members of the public to assist security agencies with credible information that could lead to his arrest.
Operation Hadin Kai announced that a substantial financial reward would be offered to anyone who provides reliable and actionable intelligence leading directly to the capture of the wanted terrorist leader.
The military assured the public that the identities of informants would be treated with the highest level of confidentiality and protected under established security procedures.
It also appealed to citizens to continue supporting ongoing counter-terrorism operations by reporting suspicious movements and relevant information through recognised security channels.
Operation Hadin Kai, however, warned members of the public against attempting to confront or arrest any of the identified terrorist suspects, stressing that all intelligence should be left to the appropriate security agencies for necessary action.
