The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections across 28 states, presenting a mix of former lawmakers, ex-governorship candidates and other prominent political figures.
The list, released on Friday by the party\\\'s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, features notable names including former Lagos governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, former Kaduna governorship candidate Isa Mohammed Ashiru, former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, former Delta governorship candidate Great Ogboru, and Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita of Katsina.
Others on the list include Senator Halliru Dauda Jika in Bauchi, former House of Representatives member Herman Iorwase Hembe in Benue, former lawmaker Zakari Mohammed in Kwara, and retired Brigadier General John Sunday Sura in Plateau State.
The party said the candidates reflect its commitment to providing Nigerians with \\\"credible leadership\\\" and a genuine alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the ADC, governorship campaigns are scheduled to begin on September 9, 2026, ahead of the February 27, 2027, governorship elections.
Among the high-profile tickets, Rhodes-Vivour will contest the Lagos governorship with Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere as his running mate, while Ashiru will fly the party\\\'s flag in Kaduna alongside Kantiok Irmiya Ishaku.
In Delta, Great Ogboru will run with Afiari Gloria, while former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami will contest the Kebbi governorship election with Zagi Musa Mohammed as his deputy.
The party also named candidates for Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Borno, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
The ADC said the announcement marks another step in its preparations for the 2027 general elections as it seeks to expand its political presence across the country.
