The Peter Obi Media Office has outlined the presidential candidate's agenda for the 2027 election as campaigns officially commence across the country.
In a statement signed by its spokesman, Idris Zekeri Jnr., the media office said the 150-day campaign period offers Nigerians the opportunity to assess the records, policies and vision of all presidential candidates before the January 16, 2027 poll.
The statement described the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Peter Obi, as the "Candidate of Conscience," saying his campaign would focus on integrity, accountability and responsible leadership.
According to the media office, Obi's agenda is built around transforming Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a productive one through investment in agriculture, industry and human capital development.
It said the campaign would also prioritise reducing the cost of governance, improving education and healthcare, strengthening security and creating opportunities for young people.
The media office maintained that Obi's appeal transcends ethnic, religious and regional considerations, insisting that his candidacy is founded on competence, character, compassion, capacity and commitment.
It urged Nigerians to critically examine the records and policy proposals of all presidential candidates rather than making decisions based on political sentiments or campaign rhetoric.
The statement said the election presents Nigerians with an opportunity to choose between continuing existing governance practices and embracing what it described as a leadership driven by accountability, productivity and hope.
It added that Obi would ask voters to judge him by his track record, ideas and character instead of his ethnicity, religion or political affiliations.
The media office also highlighted Obi's tenure as governor of Anambra State, citing his emphasis on education, healthcare, infrastructure development and fiscal discipline as evidence of his leadership style.
It stressed that public office should be earned through proven competence and measurable performance rather than political loyalty or personal privilege.
The statement further called on Nigerians to carefully evaluate the plans of all candidates for tackling economic challenges, insecurity, unemployment and institutional reforms.
Campaigns for the 2027 general election officially begin today, with political parties expected to canvass support ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
