Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, has dismissed as false a memo circulating on social media claiming that the institution had postponed its ongoing second semester examinations.

In a statement signed by the Registrar, Dr Idanyingi I. Daminabo, the university described the document, purportedly dated July 24, 2026, and allegedly issued by the Acting Registrar, as fake and unauthorised.

The management clarified that the memo did not originate from the Office of the Registrar or any recognised authority of the university, stressing that it was the handiwork of individuals bent on spreading misinformation.

RSU reassured students, staff and the general public that there had been no change to the examination timetable approved by the university Senate, adding that all second semester examinations would continue as scheduled.

The university urged students to ignore the fake memo and remain focused on their examinations, warning that reliance on unverified information could cause unnecessary confusion and disruption.

Management further cautioned those behind the creation and circulation of the false document to immediately desist from the unlawful act or face legal action.

The university also advised members of the university community and the public to obtain information only from official channels, including the Office of the Registrar, the university\'s notice boards, official website and verified social media platforms.
