The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has appointed CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment was approved by the IGP as part of efforts to strengthen the Force\'s strategic communication and public engagement initiatives.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has undergone professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, intelligence analysis, strategic communication and human rights-based policing.
Before his appointment, he served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
He had also served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, among several other operational and administrative assignments.
Throughout his career, CSP Iniedu has held key positions, including Operations Officer at the Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, and Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa.
He also served as Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he supervised the coordination and dissemination of crime and security information across the country.
The Inspector-General expressed confidence in the new police spokesman\'s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department, describing him as an experienced officer whose professional background would further enhance the Force\'s communication strategy and support ongoing policing reforms.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid.
Members of the public and media stakeholders have been advised to channel official enquiries to the new Force spokesman through the communication channels provided by the Nigeria Police Force.
