The All Progressives Congress, APC, has appointed serving governors and senior party figures as State Coordinators and Collation Officers ahead of its nationwide presidential primary scheduled for May 23.

According to the presidential primary guidelines signed by the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, voting will take place across all 8,809 wards in the country through the direct primary system.

The ruling party said members would cast their ballots for either the incumbent President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, or fellow aspirant, Stanley Osifo.

APC explained that results from the wards would be collated at the local government level by designated Local Government Collation Officers appointed by State Coordinators and Collation Officers constituted by the party’s National Working Committee.

The party added that the appointed coordinators and collation officers in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory would supervise the exercise, collate results from the 774 local government areas and forward them to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja for final collation.

Among those appointed are Governors Hope Uzodinma, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Douye Diri, Babagana Umara Zulum, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Siminalayi Fubara, alongside other governors and party leaders assigned to coordinate the exercise in their respective states.

Others listed as coordinators and collation officers include Benjamin Kalu, Yakubu Dogara, Adegboyega Oyetola and Teslim Folarin.

The APC also stated that existing provisions guiding the conduct of direct and consensus primaries earlier submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, would remain in force for the exercise.

The Presidential Primary Election Committee is chaired by Pius Anyim, while Aminu Bello Masari heads the appeal committee.
