A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Dr. George-Kelly D.A., has announced his withdrawal from the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 polls.

George-Kelly disclosed this in a statement personally signed on Wednesday, saying the decision was taken to strengthen unity, loyalty and cohesion within the APC.

According to him, the move followed wide consultations with political allies and stakeholders after a meeting organised by the national leadership of the party to deliberate on the future of the APC in Rivers State.

The politician, who belongs to the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led by Nyesom Wike, said his withdrawal was aimed at promoting party stability and strategic political alignment ahead of the elections.

He pledged total support and cooperation for whoever emerges as the party’s governorship candidate, stressing that loyalty, discipline and respect for leadership have remained the foundation of his political career.

George-Kelly also reaffirmed his commitment to the success of President Tinubu, the APC and Rivers State in the 2027 general elections.

He urged party members and supporters to remain united and continue working collectively for the progress and development of the party and the state.
