Emelandu Donates ₦80m Secondary School to Abia Government, Otti, Monarch Commend Gesture

High Chief Dr. Ikechukwu Samuel Emelandu has donated a newly renovated and equipped community secondary school to the Abia State Government in Umuagu Ohuhu Autonomous Community, Umuahia North LGA.

Speaking during the formal handover, Governor Alex Otti, represented by the Education Secretary of Umuahia North LGA, Mrs Florence Odo Enyinna Umezurike, commended Emelandu for investing in children's education and providing facilities, amenities and school uniforms. He also urged residents to protect and maintain the facility.

The traditional ruler, HRH Eze Engr. John Amaghereonu Ezeoma, described the project as a landmark intervention that would bring secondary education closer to children and reduce the difficulties of travelling to neighbouring communities.

Emelandu disclosed that he personally invested approximately ₦80 million in the renovation, construction and furnishing of the school. He also expressed his commitment to supporting the students and expanding the institution to senior secondary level.

The Acting Principal, Mrs Ruth Nneoma Okorie, revealed that the school currently has 49 students, while pledging to maintain high academic standards and discipline.

Emelandu's Personal Assistant and project supervisor, Sir Paul Nwaogwugwu, also highlighted his principal's other philanthropic activities, including medical assistance, youth empowerment and scholarship programmes through the Late Chief Godwin Emelandu Foundation for Scholarship and Education Fund.

Recall that Dr. Emelandu had earlier, in 2025, donated fully renovated and equipped classroom blocks to Umuagu Central School.

The donation is expected to improve access to secondary education in the community and strengthen educational opportunities for children in Umuagu Ohuhu.
