The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, while calling on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reciprocate the gesture politically in the state.
The PDP State Chairman, Elder Amah Abraham, made the declaration on Thursday in Umuahia during the inauguration of the Abia State Presidential Campaign Committee (PCC) for Tinubu’s re-election.
Speaking on behalf of the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, and other party stakeholders, Amah said the decision aligns with the National Rainbow Coalition initiative championed by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
He, however, stressed that the alliance must be built on fairness, equity, mutual respect and political reciprocity, urging Abia APC leaders to support the PDP’s political interests in return.
Amah clarified that the decision to support Tinubu at the national level does not mean the PDP has abandoned its governorship ambition in Abia, insisting that the party remains committed to pursuing its political interests in the state.
He described the National Rainbow Coalition as an opportunity for cross-party collaboration and strategic alliances, adding that the Abia PDP remains open to partnerships that promote the collective interests of the people.
