Corps members deployed to Rivers State have been advised to take the in-camp and post-camp Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training seriously, saying it can shape their lives for economic independence, growth and sustainability.
The State Coordinator, NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, gave the advice during the official opening ceremony and flag-off of SAED activities for the 2026 Batch C Stream I orientation course for corps members deployed to Rivers State.
He reminded the corps members that what they do with SAED today can determine how happy or sad they may be tomorrow. βWhat you do with skill acquisition training today can change your life story tomorrow,β Oleghe said.
The State Coordinator cautioned them against being distracted by friends and colleagues, noting that the future belongs to those who prepare for it.
Earlier, the newly appointed SAED Officer, NYSC Rivers State, Mrs. Ngozi Njoku-Nwogu, urged the corps members to leverage the experiences and expertise of the master trainers to guarantee a future of self-sustenance and economic independence for themselves.
She said the training was designed to equip corps members with practical skills that would enable them to create wealth and jobs rather than wait endlessly for white-collar employment.
The SAED programme is a key component of the NYSC orientation course, aimed at preparing corps members for entrepreneurship and self-reliance after their service year.
