British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, also known as Denisi or Ego, has died following complications from a penis enlargement procedure he underwent during a luxury holiday in Thailand.
Ubiribo, 43, reportedly had 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine injected into his penis at a clinic in Bangkok in March, according to proceedings at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court.
After the procedure, Ubiribo and his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, reportedly went for a massage, where he complained of chest pain before collapsing twice.
He was subsequently rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism, a potentially life-threatening blockage of an artery in the lungs.
Medical personnel reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for more than 100 minutes, but Ubiribo died in the early hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination conducted in the United Kingdom reportedly found cellular material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the cosmetic procedure.
Coroner Jean Harkin subsequently ruled that Ubiribo's death was caused by a pulmonary embolism linked to the cosmetic treatment.
The influencer, who reportedly had about 185,000 followers on Instagram, was known for showcasing a lavish lifestyle on social media.
His funeral was held in London, where he was reportedly buried in a $745,000 gold coffin. Nigerian celebrities, including singer Davido and socialite Cubana Chief Priest, were among those said to have attended the funeral.
