The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it is prepared for any eventuality ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that it can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if the polls are free and fair.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this during an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast.
Abdullahi was responding to whether the opposition could realistically unseat the incumbent administration despite the presence of several opposition groups ahead of the election.
He said the ADC was confident of victory under a credible electoral process.
“Yes, we believe so. In a free and fair election, we have no doubt in my mind that we win this election,” he said.
However, Abdullahi expressed concern over the possibility of electoral manipulation, alleging that the ruling APC could attempt to influence the outcome of the 2027 polls.
He said the ADC was preparing to protect its votes and ensure that the party’s mandate was not undermined.
“The challenge is: Will there be a fair and fair election. We are ready for that. We are ready for anything,” Abdullahi said.
He added, “If you are dealing with these APC people, you have to be ready for anything quickly because we know that they want to steal the election. We will police our vote.”
The ADC spokesman also referred to a recent comment attributed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, regarding the outcome of the Osun State governorship election.
According to Abdullahi, Wike’s suggestion that he could have delivered Osun State for the APC if he were present during the election raised questions about the possibility of political influence over electoral outcomes.
“What does that mean? That regardless of what the Osun people think, you have a way to deliver it. That’s confession,” he said.
Abdullahi further alleged that the ruling party was resorting to threats because it had lost the support of Nigerians.
“We know Nigerians have abandoned them. They know Nigerians have abandoned them, and that’s why they are threatening everybody,” he said.
He maintained that the ADC would approach the 2027 election fully prepared, particularly to safeguard its supporters and votes throughout the electoral process.
The party’s position comes amid growing political activity and heightened concerns among opposition groups over the credibility and security of the 2027 elections.
