The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intensified its crackdown on unsafe and unregistered health products, warning Nigerians against the use of three supplements found to pose serious health risks.
The agency said the action forms part of its ongoing post-marketing surveillance aimed at preventing dangerous and unregistered products from reaching consumers. NAFDAC has also directed its zonal offices across the country to remove the affected products from circulation wherever they are found.
Among the products flagged is MR.7 SUPER 700000 Capsules, a male enhancement supplement. According to NAFDAC, laboratory analysis conducted by the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) revealed that the product contains undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil—prescription medicines used to treat erectile dysfunction.
The agency warned that the hidden ingredients could expose users to severe health complications, particularly individuals taking nitrate medications for heart conditions, and urged consumers and distributors to stop using or selling the product immediately.
NAFDAC also recalled WAP Sensual Enhancement Capsules, saying the supplement contains undeclared sildenafil, tadalafil and flibanserin, none of which were listed on the product label. The agency noted that the substances could interact dangerously with prescription medicines, leading to excessively low blood pressure, severe drowsiness and other serious adverse reactions.
In addition, the agency cautioned Nigerians against Menofix Composition, describing it as an unregistered product that should not be mistaken for similarly named herbal medicines legally registered in Nigeria. NAFDAC said complaints linked to the product, including concerns over possible liver-related side effects, prompted the warning. It advised consumers to discontinue its use and hand over any of the affected products to the nearest NAFDAC office while surveillance teams continue efforts to remove them from the market.
