A 40-year-old woman, Isoken Idunueko, has been arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistratesβ Court in Ibadan for allegedly refusing to return N2,040 mistakenly transferred into her bank account.
Idunueko, who resides in the Elebu area of Ibadan, was docked on Friday on a one-count charge of theft.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
The prosecutor, ASP Foluke Adedosu, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in February at Oke-Itunu in the Mokola area of Ibadan.
According to Adedosu, the sum of N2,040 was mistakenly sent by a third party into Idunuekoβs Zenith Bank account, but she allegedly refused to refund the money after being contacted by the rightful owner, identified as Sandra Okwueze.
She said the action contravened Section 383 and is punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.T. Oyediji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ruled that one of the sureties must be a landed property owner residing in the house.
The case was subsequently adjourned until June 2 for hearing.
