INEC Releases Final List of 2027 Presidential Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections, with 18 political parties fielding presidential candidates.

The final list, signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, was released on Saturday as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

According to the timetable and schedule of activities, INEC has fixed January 16, 2027, for the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The list shows that none of the 18 presidential candidates or their running mates declared any form of disability.

It also contains two female presidential candidates, Ada Okwori of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Nkem Okereke of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), as well as four female vice-presidential candidates.

The presidential and vice-presidential candidates are aged between 35 and 80, with their stated educational qualifications ranging from First School Leaving Certificate, WAEC and NABTEB to university degrees and doctorates.

President Bola Tinubu, 74, is listed as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Vice President Kashim Shettima, 59, as his running mate.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is fielding former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 79, with former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, 61, as his running mate.

Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, 65, is listed as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, 69, as his running mate.

The Labour Party (LP) candidate is Sunday Okereke, 43, who is paired with Hajja Bintu Konto, 54.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is fielding Sandy Ojang Onor, 60, alongside Umaru Babangida, 61.

Other presidential candidates on the final list include Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC), with Haruna Magashi as his running mate; Seyi Makinde of the Allied People Movement (APM), with Musa Daura; and Sunday Adenuga of BP, with Usman Turaki Mustapha.

The Action Alliance (AA) candidate, Rufai Omo-Aje, is paired with Shehu Hussaini, while Aliyu Abbas-Bin of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) is running with Chinazam Ike.

Kabiru Yusuf is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Party (APP), with Peace Egobia Ofordile as his running mate, while Moses Adebisi of the Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA) is paired with Nafisat Abubakar.

Ada Okwori of the NDP is running with Uchenna Chukwuemeka, while Nkem Okereke of the NRM is paired with Nasir Sulaiman.

Former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), with Kabiru Rabiu as his running mate.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is fielding Adewole Adebayo, with Usman Bugaje as his running mate, while Peter Agada is the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), paired with Patience Ndidi.

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate, Daniel Nwanyanwu, is running with Hassan Khalid.

The publication of the final list marks another major step in INEC’s preparations for the 2027 elections and provides political parties, candidates and voters with the official lineup for the presidential contest.
