Troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 82 of Operation ENDURING PEACE have intervened after a soldier was allegedly assaulted by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Zwall Guard Location in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident occurred at about 6:02 p.m. on September 2, 2026, after troops received a report that one of their colleagues had been attacked.
Security sources said the soldier, identified as Trooper Hezekiah Usoko, was attempting to caution a commercial driver accused of obstructing the free flow of traffic while picking up passengers when he was allegedly attacked by NURTW members.
The trooper sustained minor injuries during the assault.
Responding troops arrived at the scene and arrested the commercial driver linked to the incident. They also impounded a Zectra vehicle with registration number KTS 462-KTN for further investigation.
Military authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the assault and ensure appropriate action is taken against those found culpable.
