The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted healthcare professionals, importers, distributors, retailers and the public to the recall of four medicines by Pakistan's Drug Regulatory Authority (DRAP) over quality and safety concerns.
In Public Alert No. 038/2026, NAFDAC said the affected medicines are Nitras, Kadin 2, Acefyl and Loratadine 24, which were recalled after they were found to be adulterated or substandard.
According to the agency, the affected batches failed to meet regulatory quality standards due to quality defects and contamination concerns.
NAFDAC warned that the use of adulterated or substandard medicines could reduce treatment effectiveness, trigger unexpected adverse reactions, lead to treatment failure and cause serious health complications.
The agency noted that patients using the medicines for cardiac conditions, allergies, muscle spasms and cough-related illnesses could face an increased risk of complications.
NAFDAC said it is monitoring the situation to ensure the recalled products do not enter the Nigerian market. It added that all zonal directors and state coordinators have been directed to carry out surveillance and remove the affected products if they are found anywhere in the country.
The agency urged importers, distributors, healthcare facilities, pharmacies and members of the public to remain vigilant throughout the supply chain and avoid procuring or distributing the affected batches.
NAFDAC also advised healthcare professionals and consumers to report suspected cases involving substandard or falsified medicines and medical devices to the nearest NAFDAC office, call 0800-162-3322, or send an email to sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
