President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh three-year tenure for the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali.

According to a statement issued by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the renewed appointments will take effect from October 20, 2026. Both media executives were first appointed on October 20, 2023.

Dembos, an indigene of Yola in Adamawa State, is a veteran broadcaster and former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU). He joined the NTA in 1989 as an announcer at the Kaduna Station and rose through the ranks to serve as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano before retiring in 2017 as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre. He later served as Executive Director of Marketing at the NTA.

Ali Mohammed Ali is an accomplished journalist and media administrator with more than three decades of experience in the media industry. A graduate of English from Bayero University, Kano, he also holds a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University. He is widely recognised for his interest in media innovation and digital content development.

President Tinubu urged both chief executives to justify the renewed confidence reposed in them by strengthening their organisations, promoting professionalism in public broadcasting and news dissemination, and advancing the objectives of the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
