The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected female gun runner and recovered live ammunition in Agbor, while also intercepting suspected adulterated alcoholic beverages and uncovering a warehouse in Warri during separate operations.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 28-year-old Happiness Clifford over alleged gun-running activities in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area. A search of her suspected hideout reportedly led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges concealed in a bucket. Police said the suspect identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition, adding that efforts are underway to arrest him.
In a separate operation on August 17, operatives of the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Warri intercepted a Toyota Sienna transporting large quantities of "Gbefun Hot Drink" suspected to be adulterated during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri–Agbarho Expressway. The 44-year-old driver was arrested, while further investigation led officers to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where more suspected adulterated beverages and a Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products were recovered. The suspected operators reportedly fled before police arrived.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for the successful operations and directed that investigations be intensified to arrest all those connected with the cases. He also urged residents to continue providing the police with credible and timely information to strengthen efforts against crime in the state.
