Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commended humanitarian workers for their courage, dedication and selfless service to people affected by conflict, disasters and other emergencies.

In a message to mark the 2026 World Humanitarian Day, the First Lady praised aid workers for bringing hope and relief to vulnerable communities despite the challenges they face.

Reflecting on this year's theme, "Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities," Mrs Tinubu said sustainable humanitarian efforts depend on protecting aid workers, fostering international cooperation and enabling local communities to lead responses to crises.

She noted that the theme underscores the need for stronger collaboration in addressing humanitarian challenges while building resilient communities.

The First Lady urged Nigerians to continue to show compassion, uphold the dignity of every human life and support humanitarian workers committed to serving those in need.

She reaffirmed the importance of collective action in promoting peace, providing relief and improving the lives of vulnerable people across the country.
