Khana Council Seeks Thorough Probe Into Killing of Chairman's Aide

The Khana Local Government Council has called on the Nigeria Police Force to conduct a thorough investigation into the killing of one of its staff, Mr. Phillip Barikui, and ensure those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

Barikui, a protocol aide to the Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Bariere Thomas, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Monday along Makoro Street in Bori, the headquarters of the local government area.

Another victim, who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, later died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Bori.

Reacting to the incident, the council described the attack as disturbing and urged security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The council also called for increased security across the area to protect residents and prevent further attacks.

The latest incident comes days after the killing of Letam Kinee, popularly known as Langa, an appointee and member of the Khana Local Government Sanitation Committee, who was reportedly shot dead along Polytechnic Road in Bori.

The two incidents have heightened concerns over the security situation in the area, with residents expressing fears over the recurring attacks.

Meanwhile, calm has returned to Makoro Street and adjoining areas, while business activities have resumed.

In a separate incident, another man was reportedly killed by suspected armed attackers along Kaani Babbe Road on Saturday night.

The victim, who was said to be returning home on a motorcycle, was allegedly attacked and killed, while his motorcycle was taken away by the assailants.

Security agencies had yet to announce any arrests in connection with the attacks as of the time of filing this report.:::
