Tinubu Hails Babangida at 85

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on his 85th birthday, describing him as a remarkable leader whose contributions to Nigeria's political, economic and infrastructural development have left an enduring legacy.

In a statement issued on Monday by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Babangida's eight years in office significantly shaped the nation's political, economic and geographical landscape.

The President noted that the former military leader initiated key economic reforms, expanded infrastructure and established several agencies and institutions that continue to play vital roles in national development.

Tinubu also commended Babangida's foresight, wisdom and commitment to fairness, saying these qualities contributed to the creation and sustained development of several states across the federation.

According to the President, Babangida's name and legacy will remain firmly etched in Nigeria's history, adding that even in retirement, the elder statesman continues to provide valuable counsel and guidance on national issues.

President Tinubu wished the former military President good health, strength and many more years of fruitful service to the nation.
