Osun Poll: Early Results Emerge as Vote Counting Begins

Voting has ended in many polling units across Osun State, with electoral officials commencing the sorting, counting and collation of ballots as the first results from Saturday's governorship election begin to trickle in.

Following the close of polls, presiding officers immediately began counting votes at polling units in line with electoral guidelines, while party agents and observers monitored the process.

The election featured Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC flag bearer Najeem Salaam, all of whom had earlier expressed confidence of victory after casting their votes.

Governor Adeleke voted at Unit 9, Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde in Ede North Local Government Area, where he said he remained optimistic that voters would renew his mandate.

Oyebamiji, who cast his ballot at Ward 09, Unit 011 in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, also declared confidence in winning the election.

ADC candidate Najeem Salaam, however, alleged that his party agents were denied recognition in some parts of the state, urging electoral authorities to address the complaints.

As of 5:19 p.m., checks on the Independent National Electoral Commission's Results Viewing (IReV) portal showed that results from 1,340 of the state's 3,763 polling units had been uploaded.

Among the first officially announced polling unit results were those from Ward 4, Unit 39 in Osogbo Local Government Area, where the Accord Party polled 65 votes to defeat the APC, which scored 43 votes. The ADC received two votes, while ZLP, AA and AAC secured one vote each.

At Ward 4, Unit 13 in the same local government area, the Accord Party recorded 134 votes, while the APC scored 75 votes. The ADC received four votes, with ADP, AAC and APGA recording one vote each.

Additional polling unit results were also reported from Ede North, Ife North, Ibokun, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ilesa East, Ila-Orangun and other parts of the state, as collation continued.

The results remain provisional pending collation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which will declare the final outcome after completing the statutory collation process.
