The Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal groups.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Aluko, the Corps said preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his duty post on June 3, 2026.
The Army said intensive efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the suspect to enable a full investigation and possible disciplinary action in line with military regulations.
It stressed that the Nigerian Army maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline and any act capable of undermining its operational effectiveness, integrity or national security.
According to the statement, any military personnel found to have aided terrorists or other criminal elements through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Army appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in locating and apprehending the wanted soldier.
It urged anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any other security agency.
The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that all allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and offenders brought to justice.
