The Federal Government says it is deploying both local and international collaboration to secure the safe release of 47 abducted teachers and students from Yawota and Ahoro Esienle communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
President Bola Tinubu made the disclosure through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during the commissioning of the remodelled 154-bed Premier Hotel in Ibadan on Thursday.
He assured residents of Oyo State and the South-West that the government is intensifying efforts to curb rising insecurity, including cases of banditry and kidnapping across the country.
According to him, “every realistic measure, including international collaboration,” is being activated to ensure the abducted victims are safely rescued without harm or loss of life.
Tinubu urged citizens to remain vigilant and support security agencies through intelligence sharing and cooperation with community structures, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
He stressed that security remains central to economic development, noting that the administration has continued to invest in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
He highlighted ongoing reforms over the past three years, including improved inter-agency coordination, enhanced intelligence gathering, expanded surveillance technology, stronger community security systems, and increased support for security forces.
He also referenced ongoing legislative efforts in the National Assembly aimed at improving policing structures nationwide, expressing optimism that the reforms would soon be implemented.
The President reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring that Nigerians, investors, and visitors can live and operate in safety as efforts to restore security continue across the country.
