Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly rejected a condolence message sent by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani following the death of his grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
Governor Sani had earlier expressed sympathy to the former governor and his family, describing the deceased as a woman of strong values, humility, and compassion. In his message, the governor extended condolences on behalf of the Kaduna State Government and its people, noting that Hajiya Umma El-Rufai lived a life of service and moral strength.
He paid tribute to her role as a devoted mother and respected matriarch, adding that she was a source of guidance and reconciliation within her community. The governor also offered prayers for the repose of her soul and strength for the bereaved family.
However, reacting in a brief post, Bashir dismissed the message, writing “Bama so,” a Hausa phrase meaning “we don’t want.”
Meanwhile, Nasir El-Rufai remains in custody following his arraignment by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering.
